FPI P36-4 Zero Clearance Direct Vent Gas Fireplace 47INSTALLATIONOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS1) Read and understand these instructionsbefore operating this appliance.2) Check to see that all wiring is correct andenclosed to prevent possible shock.3) Check to ensure there are no gas leaks.4) Make sure the glass in the door frame isproperly positioned. Never operate theappliance with the glass removed.5) Verify that the venting and cap areunobstructed.6) Ensure that the brick panels are installed.7) Verify log placement. If the pilot cannot beseen when lighting the unit, the logs havebeen incorrectly positioned.8) The unit should never be turned off, andon again without a minimum of a 60second wait.FAN INSTALLATION(OPTIONAL)120 Volt AC power is needed for the fan switchand blower. The fan can be hard wired if desired.The receptacle box should be installed on theleft hand side of the unit by a qualified electri-cian. The neutral (wider) slot of the polarizedreceptacle should be at the top.Unit must be grounded at all times. Donot cut the ground terminal off under anycircumstances.1) Shut the power off.2) Remove the standard flush door and theoptional bay door, if installed. Open thebottom louver door.3) Loosen the 2 screws holding the BurnerON/OFF switch and bracket to the bottomlouver and lift the assembly out.4) Turn the fan base on its side (with the basefacing towards you) and then slide the fanin towards the rear of the unit. Turn the fanupright and slip it over the two mountingstuds. Take care not to damage the insula-tion on the fan base. Ensure that the fanblades do not rub against the valve tub-ing. Diagram 1.8) Secure the two boxes together with onescrew.10) Remove the control boxassembly and push the hold-down clip onto the louver. Bendthe tab until it is at 90 o to thelouver.12) Secure the fan wires and power cord byattaching one of the adhesive backed wireholder clips (Part #910-199) onto the stovebase. Use the second clip to bundle up thewires approximately 4" from the control box.Ensure that there is no interference with thewires when the louver is closed and thatno wire will touch the hot metal surfaces orsharp edges.13) Plug the fan power cord into the rear end ofthe receptacle box to provide the maximumclearance from the louvers.FAN REMOVAL1) Shut the power off.2) Reverse the above instructions.Note: The bearings are lubricated for life. Donot lubricate them. Make sure you vacuumthe fan area on a regular basis.IMPORTANT:These fans collect a lot of dust from withinyour home. Ensure you maintain these fanmotors on a regular basis by vacuumingout the fan blades and housing using a softbrush nozzle.Diagram 1Diagram 2Use the clip & hook on the side of the controlboxes to join them together.5) Connect fan ground cable to ground lug.Refer to wiring diagram.6) Slide the thermodisc/cover assembly intothe bracket clip on the underside of thefirebox. Check that no wire will touch thehot surfaces. Diagram 2.7) Attach the Fan control box to the BurnerON/OFF control box.9) Position the control box assembly on thebottom louver and mark the position of theslot on the right side bracket.Hold control box assembly in place andmark the position of the right side slot11) Attach the two control boxes to the bottomlouver and tighten the 2 screws on the leftside and 1 screw on the right side.Secure left side with 2 screws.Secure right side with one screw.
