Carefully read all the instructionsin this manual first. Consult the "authorityhaving jurisdiction" to determine the need fora permit prior to starting the installation. It isthe responsibility of the installer to ensurethis fireplace is installed in compliance withmanufacturer's instructions and all applicablecodes.BEFORE YOU STARTSafe installation and operation of this appliancerequires common sense, however, we arerequired by the Canadian Safety Standardsand ANSI Standards to make you aware ofthe following:GENERAL SAFETYINFORMATION1) The appliance installation must conformwith local codes or, in the absence of localcodes, with the current Canadian or NationalGas Codes, CAN1-B149 or ANSI Z223.1Installation Codes.2) The appliance when installed, must be elec-trically grounded in accordance with localcodes, or in the absence of local codes withthe current National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or CSA C22.1 Canadian ElectricalCode.3) See general construction and assemblyinstructions. The appliance and vent shouldbe enclosed.4) This appliance must be connected to thespecified vent and termination cap to theoutside of the building envelope. Never ventto another room or inside a building. Makesure that the vent is fitted as per Ventinginstructions.5) Inspect the venting system annually forblockage and any signs of deterioration.6) Venting terminals shall not be recessed intoa wall or siding.7) Any safety glass removed for servicing mustbe replaced prior to operating the appliance.8) To prevent injury, do not allow anyone whois unfamiliar with the operation to use thefireplace.9) Wear gloves and safety glasses for protec-tion while doing required maintenance.10) Be aware of electrical wiring locations inwalls and ceilings when cutting holes fortermination.11) Under no circumstances should thisappliance be modified. Parts that have to beremoved for servicing should be replacedprior to operating this appliance.12) Installation and any repairs to this applianceshould be done by a qualified service per-son. A professional service person shouldbe called to inspect this appliance annually.Make it a practice to have all of your gasappliances checked annually.13) Do not slam shut or strike the glass door.14) Under no circumstances should any solid fuels(wood, paper, cardboard, coal, etc.) be usedin this appliance.15) The appliance area must be kept clear andfree of combustible materials, (gases andother flammable vapours and liquids).Emissions from burning wood or gas couldcontain chemicals known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer, birth defects orother reproductive harm.INSTALLATIONCHECKLIST1) Locate appliance. Testthe pilot. Must be as per diagram (Refer tothe "Pilot Adjustment " section).Convert to propane if desired (Refer to the"SIT Valve Description" section).5) Install standard and optional features. Referto the following sections where applicable:a. Optional Brick Panelsb. Log Set Installationc. Standard Flush Doord. Regency Flush Fronte. Remote Controlf. Wall Switchg. Wall Thermostath. Fan Installation6) Final check.CHILDREN AND ADULTS SHOULD BEALERTED TO THE HAZARDS OF HIGHSURFACE TEMPERATURES, ESPE-CIALLY THE FIREPLACE GLASS, ANDSHOULD STAY AWAY TO AVOID BURNSOR CLOTHING IGNITION.INSTALLATION AND REPAIR SHOULDBE DONE BY AN AUTHORIZEDSERVICE PERSON. THE APPLIANCESHOULD BE INSPECTED BEFOREUSE AND AT LEAST ANNUALLY BY APROFESSIONAL SERVICE PERSON.MORE FREQUENT CLEANING MAYBE REQUIRED DUE TO EXCESSIVELINT FROM CARPETING, BEDDINGMATERIAL, ETC.
