16 | Regency ® P33-10 Zero Clearance Direct Vent Gas Fireplace|16installationThe Top Facing Support, the Side Nailing Strips andthe 2 Top Standoffs must be correctly positioned andattached to the top before the unit is put into position.Top Standoff AssemblyThe top standoffs are shipped in a flat position andmust be pulled up and bent into the correct shape.1) Remove the standoffs from on top of the fireboxby undoing the screws.2) Take each standoff and bend into the correctshape. Bend up at the bend lines until the screwholes in the standoff and the pre-punched screwholes on the firebox top line-up.3) Attach the standoffs securely to the top with 4screws per standoff.Note: Secure the standoffs to the holes closestto the edge of the firebox top.Top Facing Support &Side Nailing StripsDetermine the total thickness of facing material(e.g. drywall plus ceramic tiles) to allow the finishedsurface to be flush with the front of the unit. Totalfacing thickness can vary from 1/2" (13mm) to1-1/4" (32mm) thick. The Top Facing Support & Side Nailing Strips canbe mounted in various positions depending on thethickness of the facing material.1) Mount Top Facing Support using the 3 suppliedscrews into the three pre-punched screw holeson the top front of the unit. Adjust support todesired facing material depth.2) Mount Side Nailing Strip using the 3 suppliedscrews into the three pre-punched screw holesat the front sides of the unit. Adjust support todesired facing material thickness.UNIT ASSEMBLY PRIOR TO INSTALLATIONTop FacingSupportSideNailingStrips(folded out)VENTING INTRODUCTIONThe P33-10 uses the "balanced flue" technology Co-Axial system. The inner liner vents products of combustion to the outside while the outer liner drawsoutside combustion air into the combustion chamber thereby eliminating the need to use heated room air for combustion and losing warm room air up thechimney. There are 5 vent systems approved for use with the P33-10: the Regency ® Direct Vent Flex System for Horizontal Terminations only and the Simpson Dura-Vent, Selkirk Direct-Temp, Amerivent Direct Vent and Security Secure Vent Systems for Horizontal and Vertical Terminations (see following "Venting" Sectionsfor more details).Note: These flue pipes must not be connected to any other appliance. The gas appliance and vent system must be vented directly to the outside of the building, and never be attached to a chimney serving a separate solid fuelor gas burning appliance. Each direct vent gas appliance must use it's own separate vent system. Common vent systems are prohibited. (See "Rigid PipeVenting System" for more details and exceptions).NOTE: Ensure compliance with the outside vent terminal location before cutting hole as both dimensions must be met.For a facing material depth of1-1/4"(32mm), the top facingsupport must be reversed. If finishing flush with the VIgnette Finishing Trim-bend nailing strips around side trim pieces asshown below.NOTE:If finishing flush with the VIgnette Finishing Trim -remove top nailing strip (facing support) if alreadyinstalled and use the nailing strip supplied withthe Trim.Nailing stripsupplied withtrimRemoveNailing stripfrom unit ifinstalledSidenailingstrips bent.
