EB 8052 EN 5-1Installation5 InstallationThe work described in this section is only tobe performed by personnel qualified for theassignment accordingly.5.1 Installation conditionsWork positionThe work position for the control valve is thefront view looking onto the operating con-trols (including valve accessories).Plant operators must ensure that, after instal-lation of the device, the operating personnelcan perform all necessary work safely andeasily access the device from the work posi-tion.Pipeline routingThe inlet and outlet lengths vary dependingon the process medium. To ensure that thevalve functions properly, proceed as follows:Î Observe the inlet and outlet lengths (seeTable 5-1). Contact SAMSON if thevalve conditions or states of the mediumprocess deviate.Î Install the valve free of stress and with theleast amount of vibrations as possible.Read information under ‘Mounting posi-tion’ and ‘Support or suspension’ in thissection.Î Install the valve allowing sufficient spaceto remove the actuator and valve or toperform service work on them.Mounting positionGenerally, we recommend installing thevalve with the actuator upright and on top ofthe valve. In the following versions, the valve must beinstalled with the actuator on top:− Valves in NPS 4 and larger− Valves with insulating section for lowtemperatures below –10 °C (14 °F)Î Contact SAMSON if the mounting posi-tion is not as specified above.Support or suspensionThe plant engineering company is responsi-ble for selecting and implementing a suitablesupport or suspension of the installed controlvalve and the pipeline.Depending on the valve version and mount-ing position, the valve, actuator and pipelinemust be supported or suspended.Valves, which are not installed in the pipe-line in the upright position with the actuatoron top, must be supported or suspended.Vent plugsVent plugs are screwed into the exhaust airports of pneumatic and electropneumatic de-vices. They ensure that any exhaust air thatforms can be vented to the atmosphere (toavoid excess pressure in the device). Further-more, the vent plugs allow air intake to pre-vent a vacuum from forming in the device.Note
