EB 8052 EN 9-1Servicing9 ServicingThe work described in this section is only tobe performed by personnel qualified for theassignment accordingly. The following documents are also necessaryfor servicing the valve:− Mounting and operating instructions forthe mounted actuator, e.g. u EB 8310-Xfor Type 3271 or Type 3277 PneumaticActuator− u AB 0100 for tools, tightening torquesand lubricantRisk of bursting due to incorrect opening ofpressurized equipment or components.Valves and pipelines are pressure equipmentthat may burst when handled incorrectly.Flying projectile fragments or the release ofcompressed medium can cause serious in-jury or even death. Before working on the control valve:Î Depressurize all plant sections affectedand the valve (including the actuator).Release any stored energy.Î Drain the process medium from all theplant sections affected as well as thevalve.Risk of burn injuries due to hot or cold com-ponents and pipeline.Valve components and the pipeline may be-come very hot or cold. Risk of burn injuries.Î Allow components and pipelines to cooldown or heat up.Î Wear protective clothing and safetygloves.Risk of personal injury due to pressurizedcomponents and process medium escapingunder pressure.Î Do not loosen the screw of the test con-nection while the valve is pressurized.Risk of hearing loss or deafness due to loudnoise.Noise emission (e.g. cavitation or flashing)may occur during operation caused by theprocess medium and the operatingconditions. Additionally, a loud noise maybriefly occur through the sudden venting ofthe pneumatic actuator or pneumatic valveaccessories not fitted with noise-reducingfittings. Both can damage hearing.Î Wear hearing protection when workingnear the valve.Crush hazard arising from actuator andplug stem moving.Î Do not insert hands or finger into theyoke while the air supply is connected tothe actuator.Î Before working on the control valve, dis-connect and lock the pneumatic air sup-ply as well as the control signal.DANGER!WARNING!WARNING!WARNING!WARNING!
