Understanding Your Phone 18Entering TextYour phone has a QWERTY ( )keypad to support quick and easy text input. You can enter textas you would when using a computer keyboard.The keys are labeled with a letter on the lower half and a numberor symbol on the upper half. Press the key corresponding to thecharacter you want to enter.Note: Your R580 also provides T9 Word predictive text entry function.In addition, you can use the following special function keys:Changing the Text Entry ModeText messages can be made up of alphabetical characters,numbers, and symbols. You can use the following text entrymodes to simplify text entry:• T9 Word: Press each phone key only once to enter the letter of theword that you’re spelling. T9 WORD mode letter options are:– T9 Word: Enter initial capital letters– T9 WORD: Enter all upper case letters– T9 word: Enter all lower case lettersNote: T9 Word does not support the QWERTY keypad, which does not needthis function.• Abc: Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by using the QWERTYkeypad or by repeatedly pressing each phone key until the desiredcharacter (as shown on the key) appears in the display. ABC modeletter options are:– Abc: Enter initial capital letters– ABC: Enter all upper case letters– abc: Enter all lower case letters• 123: Enter numbers by pressing the corresponding keys on the phonekeypad or the QWERTY keypad.Tip: Using the QWERTY keypad, also use 123 mode to enter symbols into yourmessage simply by pressing the keys labeled with the symbols you want.Press to delete characters.Tip: You can also delete a character by pressing .Press to start a new line.Press once to enter a single upper case letter.In Abc mode, press once to select CAPS LOCK.Press once more to remove CAPS LOCK.Press and hold to toggle entry mode between Abc andT9Word.Press to toggle entry mode between Abc and 123/Sym,123/SYM.Press to insert a space in a text entry.
