Sparks in such areascould cause an explosion or fire resulting inbodily injury or even death.Users are advised to switch the phone off whileat a refuelling point (service station). Users arereminded of the need to observe restrictions onthe use of radio equipment in fuel depots (fuelstorage and distribution areas), chemical plantsor where blasting operations are in progress.Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphereare often but not always clearly marked. Theyinclude the areas below decks on boats,chemical transfer or storage facilities, vehiclesusing liquefied petroleum gas (such as propaneor butane), areas where the air containschemicals or particles, such as grain, dust ormetal powders, and any other area where youwould normally be advised to turn off yourvehicle engine.Emergency CallsThis phone, like any wireless phone, operatesusing radio signals, wireless and landlinenetworks as well as user-programmed functions,which cannot guarantee connection in allconditions. Therefore, you should never relysolely on any wireless phone for essentialcommunications (medical emergencies, forexample).Remember, to make or receive any calls thephone must be switched on and in a service areawith adequate signal strength. Emergency callsmay not be possible on all wireless phonenetworks or when certain network servicesand/or phone features are in use. Check withlocal service providers.To make an emergency call:1. If the phone is not on, switch it on.2. Key in the emergency number for yourpresent location (for example, 112 or anyother official emergency number). Emergencynumbers vary by location.3. Press the key.If certain features are in use (call barring, forexample), you may first need to deactivate thosefeatures before you can make an emergencycall. Consult this document and your localcellular service provider.When making an emergency call, remember togive all the necessary information as accuratelyas possible. Remember that your phone may bethe only means of communication at the sceneof an accident; do not cut off the call until givenpermission to do so.
