The networkcan convert the messages into the selected format.Validity period: allows you to set the length of timeyour text messages are stored in the messagecentre while attempts are made to deliver them.Common settings: The following options areavailable:Reply path: allows the recipient of your message tosend you a reply through your message centre, ifyour network supports this service.Delivery reports: allows you to activate ordeactivate the report function. When this function isactivated, the network informs you whether or notyour message has been delivered.Bearer selection: allows you to select either GSM orGPRS preferred, depending on your network.Character support: allows you to choose a characterencoding type, either GSM-alphabet, Uni-code, orAutomatic. If you select Automatic, the phoneautomatically changes the encoding type from GSM-alphabet to Uni-code when you enter a Uni-codecharacter.When you select Uni-code, the maximum numberof characters which can be in a message is reducedto approximately half in length. If your recipient’sphone does not support Uni-code characters, he/shemay not be able to read your message correctly.
