It alsoexplains the features and functionalityassociated with messaging.Types of MessagesYour phone provides the following messagetypes:• Text Messages• Multimedia (Picture, Video, and Audio)Messages• IM Messages• Email and Gmail Messages• Google TalkMessage Icons on the Status BarIcons are displayed on the Status Bar at thetop of the display when new messages arereceived. For more information, refer to“Status Bar” on page 19.Creating and Sending MessagesThe Short Message Service (SMS) lets yousend and receive text messages to and fromother mobile phones or email addresses. Touse this feature, you may need to subscribeto your service provider’s message service.The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)lets you send and receive multimediamessages (such as picture, video, and audiomessages) to and from other mobile phonesor email addresses. To use this feature, youmay need to subscribe to your serviceprovider’s multimedia message service.Important!: When creating a message, adding animage, a sound file, or a video clip to a textmessage changes the message from a textmessage to a multimedia message.Messaging icons are displayed at the top ofthe screen and indicate when messages arereceived and their type. For moreinformation, refer to “Indicator Icons” onpage 19.1. From the Home screen, tap(Messaging) ➔ New message.2. Tap on the To field to manually enter arecipient or select one of the following:• Recent: to select a recipient from a list ofrecently sent messages.• Contacts: to select a recipient from yourContacts list (valid entries must have awireless phone number or email address).• Groups: to select a recipient from theGroup list.
