Messages106Broadcast (Menu 5.6)This network service allows you to receive textmessages on various topics, such as the weather ortraffic. Messages are displayed immediately as theyare received, provided that:• the phone is in idle mode.• the Receive option (Menu 5.6.2) is set to On.• the message channel is currently active on thechannel list.When you get broadcast messages, you can see themessages in idle mode. If the message is short, youwill be able to see it on the display: otherwise,press the CB soft key to read the entire message.In the Broadcast menu option, the followingoptions are available:Read: lets you read received broadcast messages.Archive: shows the list of messages you have savedfrom the temporary list.Temporary: shows the latest messages. Thesemessages will disappear when the phone isswitched off.If the message is long, press the Up or Down key toscroll through the message.When you read a message, press the Options softkey to access the following options:Cut number: shows a list of numbers included in themessage. You can extract the number(s) later use.Save: (Temporary only) saves this message to theArchive list.Messages107Delete: delete this message.Delete All: delete all message on the list.Receive: allows you to turn the reception ofbroadcast messages on or off.Channel: a check mark inside the All check boxindicates that the channel is enabled.To enable or disable this channel, press the Selectsoft key, then select Enable or Disable.The Add channel option allows you to add a newchannel to the channel list. Enter the appropriatechannel code obtained from your service provider,and a title for the channel.Language: selects your preferred language. Youwill receive cell broadcast messages only in thelanguage you have selected.Settings (Menu 5.7)Short messages (Menu 5.7.1)Using this menu, you can set up default SMSinformation. The following options are available:Service centre: allows you to store or change thenumber of your SMS centre. This number isrequired in order to send messages. You mustobtain this number from your service provider.Validity period: allows you to set the length oftime your messages are stored at the messagecentre while attempts are made to deliver them.
