32 Section 2A. Phone BasicsUsing Speed DialingYou can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’s speeddial memory to make contacting friends and family aseasy as pressing a button or two. With this feature, youcan dial speed dial entries using one keypress forlocations 2–9 or two keypresses for locations 10–99.To use One-Touch Dialing for speed dial locations 2–9: Press and hold the appropriate key forapproximately two seconds. The display confirmsthat the number has been dialed when it showsthe name and number of the speed dial.To use Two-Touch Dialing for speed dial locations 10–99:1. Press the first digit.2. Press and hold the second digit for approximatelytwo seconds. The display confirms that the numberhas been dialed when it shows the name andnumber of the speed dial.Entering TextSelecting a Text Input ModeYour phone provides convenient ways to enter words,letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you areprompted to enter text (for example, when adding aContacts entry or when using email and SMS TextMessaging).1. From a screen where you can enter text, pressOptions (right softkey) to change the text inputmode.2. Select one of the following options: T9(English) to enter text using a predictive textentering system that reduces the number ofkeypresses required while entering a word(see page 33). Alpha to cycle through the alpha charactersassociated with the letters on the keypad(see page 34).
