Settings 45Location SettingsYour phone is equipped with a Location feature for usein connection with location-based services.The Location feature allows the network to detect yourposition. Turning Location off will hide your locationfrom everyone except 911.To enable your phone’s Location feature:1. While in standby mode, select Main Menu > Settings> More... > Location. (The Location disclaimer will bedisplayed.)2. Read the disclaimer and press OK (left softkey).3. Select On or Off and press .When the Location feature is on, your phone’s standbyscreen will display the icon. When Location isturned off, the icon will be displayed on the maindisplay screen.Messaging SettingsStaying connected to your friends and family has neverbeen easier. With your phone’s advanced messagingcapabilities, you can send and receive many differentkinds of text messages without placing a voice call.(For more information, see “Accessing Messaging” onpage 142.)Messaging settings make text messaging easier byletting you decide how you would like to be notified ofnew messages, create a signature with each sentmessage, and create your own preset messages.Note Turning Location on will allow the network to detectyour position using GPS technology, making someapplications and services easier to use. TurningLocation off will disable the GPS location function forall purposes except 911, but will not hide yourgeneral location based on the cell site serving yourcall.
