WEC8500/8050 Operation Manual Version 5.2Samsung Electronics America page 324 of 5338.2 Unauthorized AP/Terminal Detection andBlockingAs the security function, the W-EP wireless LAN device provides the detection service foran unauthorized AP using the Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS)/WES function.This function detects any AP that is illegally installed without an administrator’s approvaland also any wireless terminals connected to the AP. If an authorized wireless terminal isconnected to an unauthorized AP, some information may be exposed or the wireless LANmay be attacked in some ways. Therefore, it is important to manage the risk.8.2.1 Enabling Detection FunctionThe procedure of enabling the unauthorized AP and terminal detection function is shownbelow.Configuration using CLI1) Go to configure mode of CLI.WEC8500# configure terminal2) Enable the detection function.WEC8500/configure# wi enable3) To check the configured information, use the following command. show wi current-configConfiguration using Web UIIn the menu bar of , select and then select the<Wireless Intrusion> menu in the sub-menus.Click Apply after selecting Enable or Disable, then operator can configure the WirelessIntrusion service status.Figure 153.
