TB9300 Installation and Operation Manual Working with Base Stations from Your PC 65© Tait Limited March 20164.4.4 Working with Configuration FilesAt any time, you can save the current configuration settings as a file(Tools > Files > Configuration > Backup configuration). This is stored inthe base station, but we recommend that you download it and store it onyour computer as an off-site backup. The base station identity and networkidentity are not saved as part of the configuration file. You may want to develop a master configuration and upload it to all basestations in the network. The master configuration can contain all thedifferent channel configurations and can be common to all base stations. The base station identity selects the default channel.Base stations are delivered with a default configuration which providesa safe set of values. We recommend that you download it and store it onyour computer as a backup before changing and saving any configura-tion settings. You can also generate a report containing all the base station’sconfiguration settings (Tools > Files > Configuration > Configurationreport), which can be saved as a text file. We recommend that you do thiswhen the base station is commissioned. This report can be useful later ifthere is a problem with the base station. Comparing the original report withthe later one may highlight changes in configuration that are causing aproblem.4.4.5 Setting Up Custom AlarmsEach of the base station’s 12 digital inputs can be used to raise a customalarm when the input goes high or low. The Custom Alarms form(Configure > Alarms > Custom Alarms) allows you to assign a name toeach custom alarm, and to configure whether the alarm is triggered whenthe digital input goes high or low. Custom alarms are reported via the webinterface and SNMP traps.Custom alarms are used to provide an alarm when an external eventactivates a digital input. You can rename any of the available alarms toprovide a more meaningful name, such as “Door open”.Take care when setting the severity of alarms, including custom alarms(Configure > Alarms > Severity). Setting an alarm’s severity to Majorwill cause the node to take the base station out of service when the alarmis raised. Refer to the Help for more information.4.4.6 Disabling the Front Panel KeypadYou can disable the front panel keypad to prevent access to the base stationvia the front panel menus. Select Configure > Base Station > Miscellaneousand in the Front Panel area clear the Keypad enabled check box.
