For this reason, the radio issilent and the display remains unchanged—there isno indication that the radio has enteredemergency mode.An optional feature of stealth emergencies is falsepowerdown (‘keep alive’). When an unauthorizedperson attempts to prevent you from using yourradio by turning it off, the radio appears to turn off.However, the radio is still in emergency mode.■ Non-stealth: you often work in situations whereyou want audible and visual confirmation that youhave activated emergency mode (for example, at anaccident scene).What happens during an emergency call?The exact way your radio behaves when it entersemergency mode depends on how your radio isprogrammed.
