Operating in trunked mode 79Receiving a callWhen you receive a call, your radio displays thecaller’s identity and responds in one of two ways,depending on the way it was programmed and theway your network operates.■ On-air call setup: The radio gives a ring and auto-matically accepts the call. The icon appears inthe display.■ Full off-air call setup (FOACSU): When a call isreceived, the radio rings like a telephone.To accept the call, press Answer. The radio givesa beep and the icon appears in the display. Youmay also be able to accept the call if you brieflypress the PTT key or lift the microphone off themicrophone clip.Once the icon appears, you can proceed with thecall, as follows:1 Hold the microphone about 2 inches (5 cm) fromyour mouth.2 Press and hold the PTT key to transmit.3 Speak clearly into the microphone and release thePTT key when you have finished talking.While you are transmitting, the red LED glows andappears in the display.4 End the call by placing your microphone back ontoits hook or by pressing Clear. The network mayalso end the call if neither you nor the other partytransmits for a predetermined time or if your calltime limit is exceeded.Call time limitIn trunked mode, the length of your call may be limitedby the network or by your radio. Your radio may beprogrammed to display the time remaining foryour call.
