When you next turn onbackground scan, this is the scan group that isactivated.Activating in-zone scanningIn-zone scan is turned on using a programmedfunction key. While in-zone scan is active, the radioscans all the channels programmed for the zone inwhich the radio is operating. When you change toanother zone, in-zone scan starts with channels in thenew zone.To turn in-zone scan on:■ Press the function key.In-zone scan remains on until either you press thefunction key again, or select a standard orbackground scan group.Making a call while scanningIf you want to make a call while your radio is scanning:1 Lift the microphone off the microphone clip.2 Press the PTT key to transmit.If the amber LED is flashing, your radio calls thecurrently selected channel.If there has been no recent activity on the channel(the amber LED is glowing rather than flashing), thenthe channel that is called depends on the way yourradio has been programmed.The possible options are:■ your radio calls a predetermined channel e.g.your dispatcher■ your radio calls the channel where activity waslast detected■ your radio calls the last free channel.
