90 Operating in trunked modeAbout trunked zones andworkgroupsTrunked zones and workgroups are used to managethe calls on the trunked system. Zones typically definegeographic areas (towns, suburbs or counties), orbranches of an organization. Workgroups spanmultiple zones, and typically define functions, workareas or job roles. When your radio belongs to a workgroup, it is said tobe ‘subscribed’, and you receive all calls directed tothat group of users. A group’s members are dynamic,in that a group only contains radios that are currentlyregistered on the system and subscribed to thesame group.Your radio may be programmed to use differentnames for a ‘zone’ and ‘workgroup’.For example, ‘district’ or ‘area’ may be used inplace of zone, and ‘role’ or ‘group’ may be usedin place of workgroup.Selecting a zone1 Press Menu and select Set zone.(Depending on how your radio is programmed, youmay be able to use the scroll keys, left selectionkey or channel selector to select a zone.)2 In the Set zone menu, scroll through the list ofzones until the zone you want appears.3 Press Select.4 Check that the network icon appears on thedisplay.SelectBackMain menuSet zoneSet workgroup
