94 Operating in trunked modeDialing an emergency callThis feature is only available for radios withalphanumeric keys.1 Dial *9.2 Press Send or the # or PTT key.An emergency call is now sent to the emergencylocation that has been programmed for your radio.If you wish to send an emergency call toanother radio, you may be able to dial *9*n thenpress the # or PTT key. In this case, n is theradio unit number you wish to send theemergency call to and may be a two- or three-digit number.Activating emergency modeYou can activate emergency mode using a functionkey programmed for emergency mode. Alternatively,you may be able to activate emergency mode using ahidden switch or panic button. Once emergency modeis activated, your radio makes an emergency call toyour dispatcher or some other predeterminedlocation. The radio then enters emergency mode.While emergency mode is active, your radio maycycle between receive and transmit, so that yourdispatcher can hear any activity near the radio.Cancelling emergency modeReset the radio to normal operation at any time byturning the radio off and then on.Emergency mode may be programmed to endafter a fixed period of time. In this case, there isno need to turn the radio off and then on in orderto return the radio to normal operation.
