The selectedmode will be indicated on the left of the display.Continuous playback mode (default setting): no indi-cation lampSingle playback mode: SINGLE is litProgram playback mode: PROGRAM red lamp is litRandom playback mode: RANDOM red lamp is litThe playback mode can be selected using the P.MODEkey on the remote control unit. Pressing the key chang-es the playback mode on the display in the followingorder: Continue®Single®Program®RandomYou can also select the playback mode using the PLAYMODE option in the PLAY sub-menu (see “Operationbasics” on page 16). Turning the MULTI JOG dialclockwise changes the playback mode shown on thedisplay in the following order: Mode>Cont®Mode>Single®Mode>Program®Mode>Random••••Pressing the MENU key or pushing the MULTI JOGdial returns to normal mode from the menu mode.While the mode can be changed from any playbackmode, the explanation in this manual will assume theuser is starting from the Continuous mode.NOTEThe selected playback mode remains after poweris turned off. However, the program playback modewill be cleared to “Continuous” mode when thepower is turned off.Continuous playbackPrograming is cancelled, and playback continues in thenormal order.1. When stopped, set the mode to display Continue orMode>Cont.2. Press the PLAY key to begin playback in order ofthe track number.Index searchThis Index search function allows you to search indexeswithin a track that were assigned during recording (see“Incrementing index numbers automatically” on page29).Use the INDEX option in the SYSTEM sub-menu (see“Operation basics” on page 16) to set the function on.The MULTI JOG dial or MENU (+/-) key on the remotecontrol can be used to select on or off.Index XX appears on the display.Select a track you want to assign indexes to, and put theunit in playback or playback ready mode.Use the ˚/¥ or ∆/˙ key to search through theindexes. The unit locates to the index selected, andstarts playback at that point, or goes into playbackready mode after moving to that point.Operation variationsEven if the final “seconds” time value is not input, play-back will begin from the selected “minutes” time afterpressing the ENTER or PLAY key. Or, if you press theREADY key, the unit will enter the playback standbymode at the selected point.Specifying a track number onlyAfter inputting the track number, press the ENTERor PLAY key to begin playback of that track, or theREADY key to cue the track and enter playback standbymode.NOTEInstead of inputting the three-digit track number,you can input only the desired track number.Example: To specify track , input only “”.ª Specifying to the minuteAfter inputting the three-digit track number and thenumber of minutes after the start of the track, press theENTER or PLAY key to begin playback of that track,or the READY key to cue the track and enter playbackstandby mode.Example: To specify 1 min 00 sec from the start oftrack 2, input “002 001”NOTEFollowing the above example, if “001” is input, thesame position will be located.standby mode.4 − Playback operations
