46 TASCAM DR-680Precautions for use of the cascadefunctionWhen the cascade function is ON, the auto record•function is disabled. If you turn the cascadefunction ON when the auto record function is ON,the auto record function turns OFF automatically.When the cascade function is turned OFF again,the auto record function remains OFF. To use theauto record function, turn it ON again after turningthe cascade function OFF.When using the cascade function, set the• PAUSEitem of the REC menu to the same value for boththe master and slave units. If the settings of themaster and slave units are different, their operationafter pausing recording will not be the same, andcontrol of their transports will not occur correctly.If the types of cards used for recording in the•master and slave units are different and the PAUSEitem of the REC menu is set to NEW TAKE, recordingmight not start simultaneously when the RECkey is operated. The reason for this is that theprocessing time for the units differs when theslave and master units use different types of cards.Moreover, this lag between units can also occurif the recording file format or sampling frequencysettings of the master and slave units are not thesame. To conduct cascade recording without lag,use the same type of card in both the master andslave units and set their recording file formats andsampling frequencies to the same values. Alter-nately, the lag between units can also be avoidedby waiting several seconds after putting the unit inrecording standby before pressing the REC key.The Home Screen must be open on both the master•and slave units to use the cascade function. If amenu screen is open on either or both units, thecascade function will not work properly.Use of the cascade function for playback is•intended for checking recorded takes.
