Click Wireless from the main menu.2. Click Primary Network from the left side menu. Field descriptions are listed below thescreen example.Wireless default values are discussed in Understanding Default Values and Logins onpage 8.Label DescriptionNetwork Name Displays the name of the wireless network (SSID) broadcastby the access point.Security Mode Displays the encryption method used.Mode Displays the mode of the wireless access point: Possiblemodes are: Master – Communicates with associated wireless cardsthat are in managed mode. Appears as a normal accesspoint with an SSID and channel. Networkcommunications, such as authentication, conflict, andduplicate packets are managed by the wireless card. Managed – Communicates with an associated master,not directly with another managed AP. Wireless cardsconnect to the master network and change their channelto match. The master must accept the credentials of themanaged network for it to be associated. Ad-hoc – Communicates directly with another wirelessnetwork. Network cards must be in range and use thesame name and channel. Monitor – Communicates in observation mode and doesnot transmit. Can be used for troubleshooting wirelesslinks or checking bandwidth usage in the area.PHY Mode Displays the physical transceivers (PHY) layer method used.RSSI Displays the received signal strength (RSSI) of the wirelessaccess points in range of the device. Lower negative numbers(for example, -1 to -65) indicate the access point is closer.Greater negative numbers (for example, -66 to -95) indicatethe access point is farther away.Channel Displays the channel on which the wireless cable modem isoperating.BSSID Displays the MAC address for the nearby wireless accesspoints.
