If it is unable to ping under the user definedconstraints, the AirRouter HP will automatically reboot. This option creates a kind of “fail-proof” mechanism.Ping Watchdog is dedicated for continuous monitoringof the particular connection to remote host using thePing tool. The Ping works by sending ICMP “echo request”packets to the target host and listening for ICMP “echoresponse” replies. If the defined number of replies is notreceived, the tool reboots the device.Enable Ping Watchdog Enables the Ping Watchdog tool.• IP Address To Ping Specify the IP address of the targethost which to be monitored by the Ping Watchdog tool.• Ping Interval Specify time interval (in seconds)between the ICMP “echo requests” are sent by the PingWatchdog Tool. The default value is 300 seconds.• Startup Delay Specify initial time delay (in seconds)until the first ICMP echo requests are sent by the PingWatchdog tool. The default value is 300 seconds. The value of Startup Delay should be at least 60 secondsas the network interface and wireless connectioninitialization takes a considerable amount of time if thedevice is rebooted.• Failure Count to Reboot Specify the number of ICMPecho response replies. If the specified number of ICMPecho response packets is not received continuously, thePing Watchdog tool will reboot the device. The defaultvalue is 3.
