Start-upInstallation and maintenance instructions ecoTEC exclusive 0020017768_07 336> Connect a hose to the drain valve which is located atthe lowest position in the heating system.> Shut off the appliance, open the drain valve and allvent valves on the radiators and allow the water toflow out of the heating system and the boiler quicklyand fully.> Close the drain valve.> Re-fill the heating system with water (see Section6.1.1).> Drain water out of the system until a system pressureof 100 kPa (1.0 bar) is reached. (The ideal measuredvalue on the pressure gauge is 50 kPa (0.5 bar) plusan extra amount corresponding to the highest pointof the system above the boiler. A height of 10 m corre-sponds to a pressure increase on the pressure gaugeof around 100 kPa (1 bar). The pressure must not beless than 100 kPa (1 bar) on any installation.)If the system is to be protected by an inhibitor, itshould be added at this stage in accordance with themanufacturer’s instructions.Further information can be obtained from Sentinel,Betz Dearborn Ltd., Tel.: 0151 420 9595, or from Fer-nox, Alpha–Fry technologies, Tel.: 0870 8700362.> Re-mount the enclosure of the boiler.> Attach the bottom cover to the boiler by sliding thefront edge of the cover into the lip at the bottomfront edge of the appliance chassis.> Carefully push the rear of the bottom cover upwardsuntil the spring retaining clips engage at the side ofthe appliance. It may be necessary to adapt the bot-tom cover by removing the easy break sections.6.4 Handing over the appliance to the owner> Set the controller for the maximum radiator tempera-ture to the required temperature.> Set the controller for the maximum hot water temper-ature to the required temperature.> Instruct the operator in the safe and efficient opera-tion of the boiler, paying particular attention to thefunctions of:– the ON/OFF switch of the boiler,– the controller for the maximum radiator tempera-ture,– the controller for the maximum hot water tempera-ture,– the pressure gauge.> Make the operator acquainted with the operation ofany external controllers.> Explain to the operator the importance of regularmaintenance by a competent heating engineer. It isstrongly recommended that a maintenance contractbe taken out to ensure regular maintenance. Furtherinformation can be obtained from Vaillant ServiceSolutions (0870 6060 777).> Enter the operating pressure of the central heatingsystem, the heat feed (in kW) and the temperaturedifference between the flow and return in the Bench-mark gas boiler commissioning checklist. If the appliance is not installed and commissioned inaccordance with manufacturer’s instructions this canlead to invalidation of the guarantee (Note: Your legalrights remain unaffected by this.).> Leave the operating and installation instructions withthe operator of the appliance.> Go through the operating manual with the operatorand answer any questions.> Draw special attention to the safety instructions, which the operator must follow.> Instruct the operator about the methods used forcombustion air supply and flue conducting. In particu-lar, point out that these measures must not bealtered.> Inform the operator that the instruction manualsshould be kept near the appliance.i When you have finished the installation, attach the sticker supplied (835593) to thefront case of the appliance in the user’s lan-guage.a Danger!Risk of poisoning and scalding caused byescaping hot flue gases!Hot flue gas can escape and cause poisoningand scalding, if the boiler is operated with anincompletely mounted or open flue pipe or ifthe boiler is operated with internal leaks withthe front cladding open.> Operate the boiler- for start-up- for testing- in continuous operationonly when the front cladding is closed andthe air/flue gas duct is fully fitted andclosed.
