Inspection and maintenance40 Installation and maintenance instructions ecoTEC exclusive 0020017768_0788.1.1 General inspection and maintenanceinstructionsTo ensure the faultless operation, long term availabilityof all functions and long working life of your Vaillantboiler and to prevent modifications to the approvedseries status only genuine Vaillant spare parts must beused when carrying out inspection, maintenance andrepair work.For an overview of the available original Vaillant spareparts, contact the Vaillant sales office on01634 292310.During any inspection and maintenance or after changeof parts of the combustion circuit, the following must bechecked:– The appliance has been installed in accordance withthe relevant installation instructions.– The integrity of the flue gas installation and flue sealsis in accordance with the relevant flue installationinstructions enclosed.– Visual, the integrity of the boiler combustion circuitand relevant seals.– The gas inlet working pressure at maximum rate asdescribed in Section 6.2.3.– The gas flow rates as described in Section 6.2.2.– Correctness of electrical, water and gas connections.– Correctness of the water pressure.– The condition of the whole system, in particular thecondition of radiator valves, evidence of leakage fromthe heating system and dripping taps.> Correct any faults before proceeding.8.1.2 Safety instructionse Danger!Risk of death from electric shock throughcontact with live connections!The supply terminals of the unit are still liveeven if the main boiler switch is turned off.> Do not touch the supply terminals on theunit under any circumstances.> Protect the switch cabinet from water,especially from being splashed.> Before working on the unit, always turn offthe power supply to the unit and secure itagainst being switched on again.i If it is necessary to keep the electricity to theboiler switched on for certain inspection andmaintenance, this is indicated in the descriptionof the maintenance task.Always perform the following steps prior to inspectionor maintenance work:> Switch off the main switch.> Disconnect the boiler from the power mains by– disconnecting the mains plug or– de-energising the boiler via an isolating device witha contact opening of at least 3 mm (e. g. fuses orpower switches).> Further check for electrical isolation of the applianceby use of a test meter.> Close the gas isolation valve.> Close the service valves in the heating flow andreturn.> Remove the front casing from the boiler.> When removing any water carrying componentsensure that water is kept away from all electricalcomponents.Always perform the following steps after performing anyinspection or maintenance work:> Always use new seals and O-rings when parts arereplaced.> Open the service valves in the heating flow andreturn.> Reconnect the boiler to the power mains.> Switch the main switch on.> Fill the heating circuit of the boiler to a pressure ofbetween 100 and 200 kPa (1.0 and 2.0 bar) if required.> Bleed the heating installation (see Section 6.1.1, Fillingand bleeding from the heating side).> Open the gas isolation valve.> Check the boiler for gas and water leaks.> If necessary, refill and re-bleed the heating installa-tion.> Replace the front casing to the boiler.
