Safety systems48Safety systems Three-stage restraint systemThe system comprisesz three-point seat beltsz belt tensioners on the front seats 3z airbag system for driver and frontpassenger 3.The three stages are activated in sequencedepending on the seriousness of theaccident:z The automatic seat belt locking devicesprevent the belt strap from being pulledout and thus ensure that the vehicleoccupants are retained in their seats.z The front seat belt buckles are pulleddownwards. As a result, the seat beltsare instantaneously tightened and theoccupants are made aware of thedeceleration of the vehicle at a very earlystage.
