Safety systems 49Seat beltsIn the event of an accident, persons notwearing seat belts endanger their fellowoccupants and themselves.Seat belts are designed to be used by onlyone person at a time. They are onlysuitable for children aged up to 12 orsmaller than 150 cm if used in conjunctionwith a child restraint.Three-point seat beltsThe vehicle is equipped with three-pointseat belts with automatic retractors andlocking devices, allowing freedom of bodymovement although the spring tensionedbelts are always a snug fit.The belt has a “vehicle sensitive retractor”which is designed to lock during heavyacceleration or deceleration in anydirection.Using the beltsFitting the beltPull the belt out from the retractor andguide it across the body, making certainthat it is not twisted.Insert the latch plate into the buckle. Theseat backrest must not be tilted back toofar; the recommended angle of inclinationis approx. 25°. The lap belt must not betwisted and must fit snugly across thebody. Tension the belt frequently whilstdriving by tugging the diagonal part of thebelt.Bulky clothing prevents the belt from fittingproperly. The belt must not rest againsthard or fragile objects in the pockets ofyour clothing (e.g. ballpoint pens, keys, spectacles) because these could causeinjury. Do not place any objects (e.g.handbags) between the belt and yourbody.9 WarningAlways wear your seat belt - and thatmeans also in urban traffic and when youare a rear seat passenger. It can saveyour life!Pregnant women too must always wear aseat belt - see page 49.9 WarningOn pregnant women in particular the lapbelt must be positioned as low aspossible across the pelvis in order toprevent pressure on the abdomen.Ofrecido por www.electromanuales.com PreviousNext |
