Nonetheless, you may experience an occasional paper jam.When the printer detects a misfeed or a paper jam, the printing processis halted, and a Control Panel message is displayed. See “Control PanelMessages” (page 6-15).After the paper jam has been cleared, the printer will resume operationto complete the print job, reprinting the page that jammed.What Causes aPaper Jam?Paper jams occur most often when:• The throughput paper stock does not meet specification. SeeChapter 2: Paper Handling.• The paper stock is in poor condition.• The paper stock has been improperly loaded into the paper trays.• The printer needs cleaning.• Printer parts are worn and need to be replaced.Locating the Jam Paper jams may occur in any of the following three locations, listedbelow in order of the most likely area for a jam:• Exiting the paper tray.• Moving through the rollers to the fusing unit under the top cover.• Moving through the output section under the front cover.
