The cabinet, paper path, andcorotron wires should be cleaned regularly.Cleaning theCabinetFor best results, clean the outside of the printer with a soft, clean,lint-free cloth. If necessary, dampen the cloth slightly with water. Do notuse detergents.Cleaning the PaperPathOver time, toner may get into the printer, such as from a jammed sheetof paper to which it has not been fused, from a spill during removal ofthe Toner Cartridge, or from moving the printer. Also, dust from papermay accumulate inside the printer, further impairing performance. There are several places along the paper path that should be cleaned, using a lint-free cloth (slightly dampened with cleaning alcohol ifnecessary).Cleaning the Manual Feed SlotNoteFor optimum performance, do not place the printer near vents ordust-producing equipment. Particles in the air may enter the printer andcause failures in internal mechanisms.1 Remove the Manual Feed Guide from the Manual Feed slot.2 Wipe the slot clean. There is a delicate media sensor lever about 1 in. (20 cm.)inside the right hand area of the Manual Feed Slot. Lateralpressure may damage this lever.3 Re-insert the Manual Feed Guide.
