Installing andtesting any one option is likely to take 5 to 15 minutes.Before installing or removing any printer option, take the precautionarysteps outlined below.CautionPOWER OFF THE PRINTER: The printer determines whichoptions are installed through a self-test. The self-test is run whenyou power ON the printer. Therefore, for proper operation, youmust power OFF the printer before installing/removing an option,then power it back ON after installing/removing an option.CautionDISCONNECT THE POWER CORD: Never remove the printercontroller board while the printer is plugged in.To avoid the possibility of electrical shock, always disconnect thepower cord when installing or removing ANY internal or externalprinter option.CautionDISCHARGE STATIC ELECTRICITY: The controller board andinternal printer options (SIMMs, PostScript board, and interfaceboards) are sensitive to static electricity. Before installing orremoving an internal option, discharge static electricity from yourbody by touching something metal, such as the metal back plate onany device plugged into a grounded power source. If you walkaround before finishing the installation, again discharge any staticelectricity.
