When you purchase paper, buy long-grain paper. Makesure the grain is parallel with the long side (long grain) for themost reliable feeding and stacking.Storing paperPaper has a tendency to curl under the heat that is presentinside xerographic equipment. To minimize the amount ofcurling, use paper with low moisture content. Paper withexcessive moisture content has a tendency to jam because ofthe greater curl. The maximum recommended moisture contentis 5.7 percent.Keep these points in mind when preparing your paper storagearea:• Store paper in its own wrapper; do not leave it unwrapped orwhere it can be damaged by dampness or heat.• Store paper on a flat surface and not on its side or edge.• Store reams of paper in a closed cabinet.• Always store paper in a cool, dry area. Store on pallets orshelves, not on the floor.• Plan ahead and keep at least a day's supply of paper in thesame area as the printer to allow environmental stabilizationprior to printing.Dry inkDry ink (also referred to as toner) is the black powder whichforms the image on the printed page.
