Basic Printing14Printing to a file (PRN)You will sometimes need to save the print data as a file for your purpose.To create a file:1 Check the Print to file box at the Print window.2 Select the folder and assign a name of the file and then clickOK.Printer SettingsYou can use the printer properties window, which allows you to accessall of the printer options you need when using your printer. When theprinter properties are displayed, you can review and change the settingsneeded for your print job.Your printer properties window may differ, depending on your operatingsystem. This Software User Guide shows the Properties window forWindows XP.Your printer driver Properties window that appears in this User Guidemay differ depending on the printer in use.If you access printer properties through the Printers folder, you can viewadditional Windows-based tabs (refer to your Windows User Guide) andthe Printer tab (see “Printer Tab” on page 18).N OTES:• Most Windows applications will override settings you specify inthe printer driver. Change all print settings available in thesoftware application first, and change any remaining settingsusing the printer driver.• The settings you change remain in effect only while you are usingthe current program. To make your changes permanent, makethem in the Printers folder.• The following procedure is for Windows XP. For other WindowsOS, refer to the corresponding Windows User's Guide or onlinehelp.1.
