9-7167109-1CDHW14823089 Maintenance and Inspection9.3 Grease ExchangeMS1659.3 Grease Exchange9.3.1 Notes on Grease Exchange ProceduresMake sure to follow the instructions listed below at grease exchange.Failure to observe the following notes may result in damage to motor andspeed reducer.NOTE• If grease is injected without removing the plug from thegrease exhaust port, the grease will leak inside a motor, oran oil seal of a speed reducer will come off. Make sure toremove the plug or it may result in a failure. Also, when using a tube, the length must be 150 mm orshorter and the inside diameter must be 6 mm or longer. If the tube is too long, the exhaust resistance at the tubepart is increased, and the inner pressure of the greasebath is raised. It may result in coming off of an oil seal.• Make sure to use a grease pump to inject grease. Set thegrease injection rate to 7 g/s or less. (Air supplypressure to the grease pump: 0.3 MPa or less (roughstandard)) If not, an oil seal of a speed reducer will comeoff, and it may result in a failure.• When using extrusion air for discharging the grease, setair supply pressure at 0.025 MPa or less.If not, an oil seal of a speed reducer will come off, and itmay result in a failure.• Make sure to fill the hose on the grease inlet with greasebeforehand to prevent air from leaking into the speedreducer.• After injecting grease, discharge the specified amount ofgrease. If insufficient, the inner pressure is raised duringthe operation, and grease may leak. When dischargedtoo much, the speed reducer is not lubricated sufficientlyduring the operation, and it may cause the early failure ofthe speed reducer.• When filling/exchanging grease, the grease may flow outfrom the grease inlet or the grease exhaust port. Preparea container to receive the grease and a waste cloth towipe the grease in advance.• After mounting a speed reducer or a motor, leave it 30minutes or more and inject grease. If grease is filledbefore the sealing bond is hardened, it may cause thegrease leakage.WARNING• When operating the manipulator, do not enter into the working areaof the manipulator. Injury may result if anyone enter into theworking area during operation.CAUTION• When using extrusion air for discharging the grease, the greasemay be vigorously discharged from the exhaust port. Perform anoperation such as using a tube at the grease exhaust port to pourinto an appropriate container.68 of 100
