Manual VIPA System 200V Chapter 3 Deployment CPU 21x-2BS03HB97E - CPU - RE_21x-2BS03 - Rev. 15/16 3-17Operating modesThe CPU can be in one of 3 operating modes:• Operating mode STOP• Operating mode START-UP• Operating mode RUNCertain conditions in the operating modes START-UP and RUN require aspecific reaction from the system program. In this case the applicationinterface is often provided by a call to an organization block that wasincluded specifically for this event.• The application program is not processed.• If there has been a processing before, the values of counters, timers, flags and the process image are retained during the transition to theSTOP mode.• Outputs are inhibited, i.e. all digital outputs are disabled.• RUN-LED (R) off• STOP-LED (S) on• During the transition from STOP to RUN the system calls the start-uporganization block OB 100. The processing time for this OB is notmonitored. The start-up OB may issue calls to other blocks.• All digital outputs are disabled during the start-up, i.e. outputs areinhibited.• RUN-LED blinks as soon as the OB 100 is operated and for at least3s, even if the start-up time is shorter or the CPU gets toSTOP due to an error. This indicates the start-up.• STOP-LED offWhen the CPU has completed the start-up OB, it assumes the operatingmode RUN.• The application program in OB 1 is processed in a cycle. Under thecontrol of alarms other program sections can be included in the cycle.• All timers and counters being started by the program are active and theprocess image is updated with every cycle.• The BASP-signal (outputs inhibited) is deactivated, i.e. all digital outputsare enabled.• RUN-LED on• STOP-LED offOverviewOperating modeSTOPOperating modeSTART-UPOperating modeRUN
