Cooling system flushing is essential toprevent the cooling system from clog-ging up with salt, sand, or dirt. In addi-tion, fogging/lubricating of the engine ismandatory to prevent excessive enginedamage due to rust. Perform the flush-ing and fogging at the same time.WARNINGEWM00090 Do not touch or remove electrical partswhen starting or during operation. Keep hands, hair, and clothes awayfrom the flywheel and other rotatingparts while the engine is running.6. Run the engine at a fast idle for 10–15minutes in neutral position while supply-ing fresh water.7. Just prior to turning off the engine, quick-ly spray “Yamaha Stor-Rite EngineFogging Oil” (Part No. LUB-STRRT-12-00) alternately into each carburetor/each intake manifold. When properlydone, the engine will smoke excessivelyand almost stall.8. Remove the flushing attachment andwipe off any excess water.9. Install the silencer cover/cap and topcowling. Install the propeller.NOTE:A flushing attachment is available from yourYamaha dealer.EMU28410Lubrication (oil injection models)1. Grease the spark plug threads and in-stall the spark plug(s) and torque toproper specification. For information onspark plug installation, see page 44.2. Fill the oil tanks. This prevents the for-mation of condensation. For models witha remote oil tank, it may be necessary tomanually override the control unit tocompletely fill the engine oil tank.3. Change the gear oil. For instructions,see page 49. Inspect the oil for the pres-ence of water which indicates a leakyseal. Seal replacement should be per-formed by an authorized Yamaha dealerprior to use.4.
