If the choke knob is left pulled out, theengine will stall.@8) Push the starter button to start themotor.9) Immediately after the engine starts,release the starter button to return it tothe original position.10) Return the throttle control grip slowly tothe fully closed position so that theengine does not stall.CAUTION:@ Never push the starter button while theengine is running. Do not keep the starter motor turningfor more than 5 seconds. If the starter-motor is turned continuously for morethan 5 seconds, the battery will bequickly discharged, thus making itimpossible to start the engine. If theengine will not start after 5 seconds ofcranking, release your hand from thestarter button, and crank the engineagain after an interval of 10 seconds.@NOTE:@ When starting a cold engine, the engineneeds to be warmed up. Refer to “WARM-ING UP ENGINE” for details. If the engine doesn’t start on the first try,repeat the procedure. If the engine fails tostart after 4 or 5 tries, open the throttle asmall amount (between 1/8 and 1/4) and tryagain. If the engine still fails to start, refer to“TROUBLESHOOTING” in Chapter 5.@
