3-24EEMU00285TILTING UP/DOWNIf the engine will be stopped for some time,or if the boat is moored in shallows, theengine should be tilted up to protect the pro-peller and casing from damage by collisionwith obstructions, and also to reduce saltcorrosion.CAUTION:@ Before tilting the motor, follow the pro-cedures under “STOPPING ENGINE”.Never tilt the motor while the engine isrunning. Severe damage from over-heating can result. Do not tilt up the engine by pushingthe steering handle as this could breakthe handle.@WARNING@Be sure all people are clear of the out-board motor when adjusting the tiltangle, also be careful not to pinch anybody parts between the drive unit andengine bracket.@WARNING@Leaking fuel is a fire hazard. Disconnectthe fuel line if the engine will be tilted formore than a few minutes. Otherwise, fuelmay leak. (If the fuel connector is pro-vided on the motor.)@
