PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT6-3862. Lift the rear wheel off the groundaccording to the procedure onpage 6-35.3. Remove the axle nut.4. Loosen the locknut on each side ofthe swingarm.5. Turn the drive chain slack adjust-ing bolts fully in direction (a) andpush the wheel forward.6. Remove the drive chain from therear sprocket.TIP If the drive chain is difficult to re-move, remove the wheel axle first,and then lift the wheel upwardenough to remove the drive chainfrom the rear sprocket. The drive chain cannot be disas-sembled.7. While supporting the brake caliperbracket, pull the wheel axle out,and then remove the wheel.NOTICE: Do not apply the brakeafter the wheel has been re-moved together with the brakedisc, otherwise the brake padswill be forced shut. Install the wheel and the brake cal-iper bracket by inserting the wheelaxle from the left-hand side.TIP Make sure that the slot in the brakecaliper bracket is fit over the retain-er on the swingarm. Make sure that there is enoughspace between the brake pads be-fore installing the wheel.2. Install the drive chain onto the rearsprocket.3. Install the axle nut, and then lowerthe rear wheel so that it is on theground.4. Adjust the drive chain slack. (Seepage 6-23.)5. Tighten the axle nut to the speci-fied torque.1. Wheel axle 1. Slot2.
