40 EnADDITIONAL INFORMATIONRefer to the table below when this unit does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed belowor if the instruction below does not help, turn off this unit, disconnect the power cable, and contact the nearest authorizedYamaha dealer or service center.■ GeneralTroubleshootingProblem Cause Remedy SeepageThis unit fails to turnon or enters thestandby mode soonafter the power isturned on.The power cable is not connected or theplug is not completely inserted.Connect the power cable firmly. —The protection circuitry has beenactivated.Make sure that all speaker wire connections on thisunit and on all speakers are secure and that the wirefor each connection does not touch anything otherthan its respective connection.9This unit has been exposed to a strongexternal electric shock (such as lightningor strong static electricity).Set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect thepower cable, plug it back in after 30 seconds and thenuse it normally.—No sound Incorrect input or output cableconnections.Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,the cables may be defective.11-13No appropriate Audio input jack select hasbeen set.Set an appropriate Audio input jack select. 35No appropriate input source has beenselected.Select an appropriate input source withNINPUT l / h on the front panel (or the inputselector buttons (f) on the remote control).18, 19Speaker connections are not secure. Secure the connections. 9The front speakers to be used have notbeen selected properly.Select the front speakers with CSPEAKERS. 19The volume is turned down. Turn up the volume. —The sound is muted. Press eMUTE or mVOLUME +/– on the remotecontrol to resume audio output and then adjust thevolume.20Signals this unit cannot reproduce arebeing input from a source component,such as a CD-ROM.Play a source whose signals can be reproduced by thisunit.—Audio signals input at the HDMI jack arenot output from any speaker terminals.Make an analog or digital connection beside theHDMI connection.—The setting of the connected component isimproper.Make an appropriate setting following the instructionmanual of the connected component.—The sound suddenlygoes off.The protection circuitry has been activatedbecause of a short circuit, etc.Check that the speaker wires are not touching eachother and then turn this unit back on.—The sleep timer has turned off this unit. Turn on this unit, and play the source again. —The sound is muted. Press eMUTE or mVOLUME +/– on the remotecontrol to resume audio output.20Sound is heard fromthe speaker on oneside only.Incorrect cable connections. Connect the cables properly.
