FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM7-25EAS30600TROUBLESHOOTING METHODThe engine operation is not normal and theengine trouble warning light comes on.1. Check:• Fault code number▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼a. Check the fault code number displayed onthe FI diagnostic tool.b. Identify the faulty system with the fault codenumber.c. Identify the probable cause of the malfunc-tion.▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲2. Check and repair the probable cause of themalfunction.3. Perform the reinstatement action for the fuelinjection system.Refer to “Reinstatement method” in the ap-propriate table in “TROUBLESHOOTINGDETAILS” on page 7-28.4. Turn the main switch to “OFF”, then to “ON”again, and then check that no fault code num-ber is displayed.TIPIf another fault code number is displayed, repeatsteps (1) to (4) until no fault code number is dis-played.5. Erase the malfunction history in the diagnos-tic mode. Refer to “Diagnostic code table (di-agnostic code No. D62, D63)”.TIPSetting the main switch to “OFF” will not erasethe malfunction history.The engine operation is not normal, but theengine trouble warning light does not comeon.1. Check the operation of the following sensorsand actuators in the diagnostic mode. Referto “TROUBLESHOOTING DETAILS” onpage 7-28.If a malfunction is detected in the sensors oractuators, repair or replace all faulty parts.If no malfunction is detected in the sensorsand actuators, check and repair the innerparts of the engine.EAS30640DIAGNOSTIC MODEIt is possible to monitor the sensor output data orcheck the activation of actuators by connectingthe FI diagnostic tool to the vehicle and setting itto the normal mode or the diagnostic mode.Setting the normal modeTIPThe engine speed, engine temperature, andfault code numbers, if stored in the memory ofthe ECU, can be displayed on the LCD of the FIdiagnostic tool when the tool is connected to thevehicle and is set to the normal mode.1. Turn the main switch to “OFF” and enginestop switch to “ ”.2.
