Coolant system2659.2.2 Seawater pump disassemblyRefer to 2.2.4.(5).(1) Remove the rubber hose from theseawater pump outlet and then theseawater pump assembly from the gearcase (flange).(2) Remove the side cover and take out theO-ring, impeller and wear plate.(3) Remove the retainer, washer andmechanical seal.(4) Insert plier from the drive gear side andremove the retainer that holds thebearing.(5) Lightly tap the pump shaft from theimpeller side and remove the pumpshaft and bearings as a set.(6) Remove the lip seal and mechanicalseal if necessary.9.2.3 Seawater pump Inspection(Refer to 2.2.4(5).)(1) Inspect the rubber impeller, checking forsplitting around the outside, damage orcracks, and replace if necessary.(2) Inspect the mechanical seal and replaceif the spring is damaged, or the seal iscorroded. Also replace the mechanicalseal if there is considerable coolantleakage during operation.(3) Make sure the ball bearings rotatesmoothly.
