8The hobUsing the hobThe gas hob has different burner sizes tosuit different types of cooking:To ensure maximum burner efficiency onlyuse pots and pans with flat basesappropriate to the burner size used.Larger burner (Rapid) - use a large pan forfood such as chips.Medium burners (Normal) - use for everydaycooking.Small burner (Simmer) - use for simmeringfoods such as soups and stews.The largest pan which you should use onany burner is 230mm (9"). The base of thesmallest pan should not measure less than100mm (4").Ensure the pan supports arecorrectly fitted before using thehob.To light the hob burnersThe hob ignition works by means of abattery.• Push in and turn the control knob to theleft to the highest setting. This is shownby a large flame symbol. Press theignition button immediately.• When the burner has lit release thecontrol and ignition button, adjust thesetting as required.Warning: If the ignition button isnot pressed immediately a buildup of gas may cause the flame tospread.
