When deactivated (LED not lit), the microscope is optimized forlight transmission. When this function is activated (green LED is lit),the microscope is automatically set to the optimum depth of field inaccordance with the selected magnification. The next time the systemis switched on, the mode last selected will be activated.2 Zoom adjustment knob for manual modefor manual controlling the zoom system.3 Illumination knobfor selecting the illumination mode:– Position 1 – Red reflex illuminationThis is the best setting to generate an optimum red reflex. Glare from thesclera is greatly reduced as only the central field of view is illuminated.– Position 2 – Red reflex with surrounding field illuminationThis setting permits clear visualization of the red reflex combined withillumination of the surrounding field of view.– Position 3 – Surrounding field illuminationThis setting is used for illuminating the field of view if no red reflex isrequired.– Position 4 – Surrounding field illumination with retinal protection deviceIn this setting, a retinal protection device is swung into the surroundingfield illumination beam path. It prevents light from entering into the pupil, providing additional protection for the patient’s eye against phototoxicdamage.4 Light guide connectorAlways make sure to insert the correct end of the light guide into the lightguide connector.
