Preparation for use OPMI Lumera iVersion 8.0Page 80 G-30-1720-enSetting up the systemLimiting the suspension arm’s downward movementProceed as follows to limit downward movement:• Loosen locking lever (1) for the upward/downward movement.• Lower the surgical microscope until it can be focused on the surgical field(depending on the focal length of the objective lens). At the same time, ensure that there is sufficient safety distance to the surgical field.• Firmly retighten locking lever (1) for the upward/downward movement.• Lower the surgical microscope to its lowest position again, and check thedistance between the microscope and the surgical field. The limit of downward travel is only effective in the lower part of the suspensionarm’s vertical movement range (starting from the arm’s horizontal position).Fig. 30: Adjusting thedownward travel limitCAUTION Risk of injury caused by lowering of the surgical microscope! If the surgical microscope has not been correctly balanced, it may lead todownward movement and cause injury to the patient.• Adjust the limit of downward travel of the suspension arm in such a way– that the surgical microscope cannot come into contact with thepatient even if it is inadvertently lowered.– that during coarse focus with the suspension arm there is sufficientdistance maintained from the patient, particular if a fundus viewingsystem and other accessories are mounted.1
