If you are using yourcommunications software to dialspeakerphone calls, the software needs to berunning in order for you to hear incomingcalls.)Disabling the SpeakerFeatureIf you want to talk privately to a caller, youcan use a phone handset instead of thespeaker.To disable the speaker for the entirecall: Do not press the SPEAKER buttonwhen the call comes in. Simply lift thehandset of the telephone connected to themodem’s PHONE jack.To disable the speaker during a call:Pick up the handset of the telephoneconnected to the modem’s PHONE jack. Touse the speaker again, press the SPEAKERbutton and then hang up the handset.Adjusting Speaker VolumePress the up and down volume buttons ontop of the modem (marked VOLUME).Muting a CallIf you’d like to say something without thereceiving party hearing you, you can pressthe MUTE button. When you mute a call,the ONLINE light will blink.To turn off the mute feature, press MUTEagain. (The ONLINE light will stop blinkingand remain illuminated for the remainder ofthe call.)
