Error Codes 5-7Troubleshooting Windows 95 (NDIS 3)Windows 95 sometimes has trouble selecting availableresources for the 3C389 PC Card, causing the 3C389PC Card not to function. If you find that your3C389 PC Card is not functioning, follow this procedure.1 Click Start.2 Go to the Settings menu selection and click ControlPanel.3 Click System.4 Click the Device Manager tab.5 Check the 3C389 PC Card network adapters icon forfor indications of a resource conflict.The resource conflict indicator is an exclamation pointinside a yellow or red circle that appears on top of thenetwork adapter icon.6 If you see a conflict indicator, double click the 3C389PC Card networks adapters icon.The properties dialog for the 3C389 PC Card appears.7 Click the Resources tab of the dialog box.There are three resources that must be correct before the3Com Token Ring LAN PC Card will function correctly:the Interrupt Request (IRQ), Memory Range, andInput/Output (I/O) range. The interrupt request valueshould be a value between 3 and 15 that does notconflict with any other devices. The memory range isoften set incorrectly by Windows 95. It is recommendedthat the memory range be set in the 000D0000 to000DC000 in a non-conflicting memory region. Thememory range 000C0000 to 000CFFFF is often used forvideo caches and Windows 95 does not always excludememory regions that are already in use. Acceptable valuesfor the input/output range include any four consecutivevalues beginning at 0300.8 If EMM386.EXE is in your CONFIG.SYS, commentit out.
