A USING A M EMORYMANAGERIf your PC comes with a memory manager preinstalled, orif you would like to use one, you must configure your PCso that the memory manager does not use the samememory as your 3C389 PC Card. If you have more thanone 3C389 PC Card, you must reserve the memoryneeded for all of them. One 3C389 PC Card cannot usethe same memory ranges as another. To determine whether or not your PC has a memorymanager, edit your CONFIG.SYS file and look for thememory manager driver name. For example, when usingEMM386, look for:DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE ......You must also consider your PC Card environment (PointEnabler or Card and Socket Services) as described in thesections that follow. For more information on yourmemory manager and your configuration files, refer toyour PC’s operating system manual.Memory Managers with Point EnablerTo prevent duplicate use of a memory location, thememory range used by your 3C389 PC Card must beexcluded from the memory manager. To do this, youmust edit your CONFIG.SYS file. In certain environments,LANAID will add the exclude statement automatically. If you are using enhanced mode, 8 KB of memory mustbe excluded. If you are using compatibility mode, 24 KBof memory must be excluded.
