Troubleshooting Remote Wake-Up 61Troubleshooting Remote Wake-UpIf your PC does not boot in response to a Remote Wake-Upevent, perform these troubleshooting steps:1 Make sure that the PC meets the Remote Wake-Uprequirements listed in Chapter 1.2 Make sure that you are using the latest driver forthe NIC.This driver is shipped with the NIC on the EtherDisk diskettes.It can also be obtained from your PC manufacturer.3 Make sure that Remote Wake-Up is enabled onthe NIC.See “Configuring the Managed PC Boot Agent (MBA)” inChapter 5 for instructions.4 Perform the Remote Wake-Up Test.See the previous section, “Running the NIC DiagnosticsTests,” for instructions.5 Check the PC BIOS.a Boot the PC and enter the BIOS.If you do not know how to enter the BIOS, consult thereference manual for your PC or contact your PC vendor.b Locate the Wake-Up on LAN event setting.c Verify that the setting is enabled.6 If your PC is not compliant with PCI 2.2, check theRemote Wake-Up cable connection.a Turn off the power to the PC and remove the PC cover.a Make sure that the Remote Wake-Up cable is pluggedin to the RWU connector on the NIC and in to theappropriate connector on the PC motherboard. Unplugand reinsert the cable if necessary.b Replace the Remote Wake-Up cable with a knownfunctioning Remote Wake-Up cable and perform theRemote Wake-Up Test again.
