Electrical installation59Electrical installationWhat this chapter containsThis chapter describes the electrical installation procedure of the drive.WARNING! The work described in this chapter may only be carried out by a qualifiedelectrician. Follow the Safety instructions on the first pages of this manual. Ignoringthe safety instructions can cause injury or death.Make sure that the drive is disconnected from the mains (input power) duringthe installation. If the drive is already connected to the mains, wait for 5 minafter disconnecting mains power.Checking the insulation of the installationDriveEvery drive has been tested for insulation between the main circuit and the chassis(2500 V rms 50 Hz for 1 second) at the factory. Therefore, do not make any voltagetolerance or insulation resistance tests (e.g. hi-pot or megger) on any part of thedrive.Input cableCheck the insulation of the input cable according to local regulations beforeconnecting it to the drive.Motor and motor cableCheck the insulation of the motor and motor cable as follows:1. Check that the motor cable is disconnected from the drive output terminals U2,V2 and W2.2. Measure the insulation resistances of the motor cable and motor between eachphase and the Protective Earth by using a measuring voltage of 1 kV DC. Theinsulation resistance must be higher than 1 Mohm.PEohmMPhone: 800.894.0412 - Fax: 888.723.4773 - Web: www.clrwtr.com - Email: info@clrwtr.com
