An adequate time interval between the faults should be considered, toovercome a reclaim time caused by the possible activation of the autorecloserfunction SMBRREC. The function must issue a three-phase trip in all caseswhen trip is initiated by any protection or some other built-in or externalfunction. The following functional output signals must always appearsimultaneously: TRIP, TRL1, TRL2, TRL3 and TR3P.9.10.1.2 1ph/3ph operating mode SEMOD54375-116 v5In addition to various other tests, the following tests should be performed. Theydepend on the complete configuration of an IED:Procedure1. Make sure that TripLockout and AutoLock are both set to Off.2. Initiate different single-phase-to-earth faults one at a time.Single-phase tripping will only be allowed when an autoreclose attempt willfollow. The autorecloser function SMBRREC has the functionality such asthe long trip time, CB ready and so on, which can prevent a proper single-phase tripping and autoreclose. To by-pass this problem the fault initiationshould be with a test set and with the autoreclose in full service with a test setconnected to the distance protection function. Consider using an adequatetime interval between faults, to overcome a reclaim time of which is activatedby SMBRREC. Only a single-phase trip should occur for each separate faultand only one of the trip outputs (TRLn) should be activated at a time.Functional outputs TRIP and TR1P should be active during each fault. Noother outputs should be active.3. Initiate different phase-to-phase and three-phase faults.Consider using an adequate time interval between faults, to overcome areclaim time, which is activated by SMBRREC. A three-phase trip shouldoccur for each separate fault and all of the trips. Functional outputs TRIP, allTRLn and TR3P should be active at each fault. No other outputs should be active.4. Initiate a single phase-to-earth fault and switch it off immediately when thetrip signal is issued for the corresponding phase. Initiate the same fault onceagain within the reclaim time of the used SMBRREC.A single-phase fault shall be given at the first fault. A three-phase trip mustbe initiated for the second fault. Check that the corresponding trip signalsappear after both faults. Functional outputs TRIP, TRLn and TR1P should beactive during first fault. No other outputs should be active. Functional outputsTRIP, all TRLn and TR3P should be active during second fault.5. Initiate a single phase-to-earth fault and switch it off immediately when thetrip signal is issued for the corresponding phase.
